How does trap card chaining work?

Hi, look at this scenario please; in my battle phase i attacked my opponent and he used magic cylinder, i used seven tools of the bandit which ended that chain in my favor. Can my opponent use shadow spell on my monster afterwards. I ask this because i was wondering whether someone can activate another trap card after the ending of a chain.
